380 S2: Lagoon 380 S2 - Bimini

Hi!

I'm new in this forum, so I want to introduce myself shortly and look for help in the community:

My name is Wolfgang, 64, german (so please apologize when I make mistakes or don't understand) and in the last 5 years I spent the summer on my way and in the mediterranean sea, meanwhile in Greece. Until this summer I sailed with my 25 year old SIRIUS 31DS, and now I'm the Owner of a second hand 380 S2 - "SCHWALBE". She is in the Netherlands by now and will be sailed into the MED next year..

My SCHWALBE has no rigid Bimini, but a foldable one, taylor made with sailcloth. It works and looks well, but there are some disadvantages. For example there is no protection on the helm stand, and in the cockpit is no wind from ahead, because the top is fixed on the roof directly, and we would like to install solar panels on the roof.

So we think over to replace the foldable one by a rigid one. Two problems: I don't like to throw away equipment, which is still good. And second: The german Lagoon dealer gave a quotation of 14.500 €. Hups!

I wonder whether I can find a steel / composite constructor who can offer the bimini cheaper. Has anybody an idea? Thank for recommendations!
