Lagoon 400 Mast Cars

Good day folks

Pacific crossing is done and the last few days of the trip, lost all the ball bearings from a mast car. Spent about an hour on google but cannot figure out who the manufacturer of it is so I can order replacements (or a new car I suspect).

Boat is a lagoon 400. 2012. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions? Stamped on ever single batten attachment is the number 4977. Short of having a rigger come visit and give ideas I’m stuck. Come on cruisers forum - give me some of your knowledge!

Z Spar is the brand.

You will need a small piece of track and tape to insert it with all its balls, Harken also makes torlon balls in many sizes.

Either a lot of patience or the small piece of track, do not fill the rails with all the balls, if I remember correctly leave an empty space for it to run well.

Anyway I think you already have the small piece of track installed, that works for you, although I have seen installations where they have placed all the mainsail track without making a small window to lower or raise them.

If you lost to many balls then I think I found them on Harken. 6mm if memory serves

Re: Lagoon 400 Mast Cars

Thanks folks. I lost all the balls at once

Any idea what causes them to all fall out? Admittedly, I haven’t taken the car apart yet, but I was thinking there must be a failure in the car and was going to completely replace it. But from what you are saying, just the balls can be replaced. What does it take to keep them in place so they don’t all fall again?

Re: Lagoon 400 Mast Cars

If the balls fall out, it is probably because of loose fitt on the track.
Most likely due to wear and tear...

Replacing the car is the way to go...

Snorre - I think you are bang on with US Spar. The pics look identical. Thank you
