Re: Lagoon 450 maintenance

Dave, I'm working similar issue with my L/S. I have a 2014 and the loud "clunking sound" was first noted when I was sailing her up from the Carib to the East Coast of the US. The sound radiates right next to our owners birth bulkhead and gradually grew louder over the 7 day sail.

I found a lot of literature on bleeding the system, some directly from L/S and some good insights from Steve of Emerald Seas. It turns out that I found some success by tightening down the four bolts that hold the pump plate to the boat. I am not near my boat now to take pics. You can access the bolts by a small opening parallel and below the L/S pump. Once I tightened them and added blue loc tite the noise went away for about a week and then started to come back. I tightened again and it helped again. The pump puts a lot of torque on those bolts. My next plan is to use red loctite and lock nuts when I tighten it down. I'll advise when I do, but that's about a month away.

I hope that is helpful for you. Good luck

Re: Lagoon 450 maintenance

Hi, Thanks gatorsailor. We removed the whole hydraulic units and the bolts looked tight at the time and I made sure tight on reinstall today. May have been that issue although the clunk seem to happen only one direction when the arm was quite extended and then reversed direction. I will only know when back out on the ocean, but at least I can see how easy to bleed now. Cheers, Dave.

Re: Lagoon 450 maintenance

Thanks for the list, really very helpful!

What I miss are information about the exhaust elbows, or how often do you change it and the rubber hoses? Or did I just not see that?

Or did the shipyard use a stainless steel elbows? Unfortunately I am not on board right now, but I read in an internet manual for the 4jh5e that the mixer elbow has to be changed every 500h or every 2 years, as well as the hoses. The elbows cost about 400,- Euro (x 2)

Re: Lagoon 450 maintenance

In the case that I should buy new elbows every two years for 2000,- USD from Yanmar, I could possibly get better corrosion-free elbows made of gold...

Actually I hadn’t read anything about the elbow. It is news to me. Must look up.

Re: Lagoon 450 maintenance

Lately, there have been posts on the Lagoon FB page about leaks in the hull to deck joint around the chain plates and inside bow sections near the cross beam. Anyone here have similar issues?
