Re: Looking at GB for Lagoon 410 Hard Top

Rk the idea here is an affordable hardtop using the original frame just like the original one. By the way these where farmed out by Lagoon to another company There are some nice custom tops being built out there in the $18,000 range as well as some home built ones for around $2,000. DM is going to build the 410 Hardtop to provide a MUCH safer walking area than the Rag top does as well as something that looks like it belongs there. Anyone with a 410 Rag top knows exactly what I'm talking about. And for $5,000 to $6,000? It should be a no brainer.

Am considering a pre Evolution Mahe but don't like the lack of a well designed hardtop. This could be a solution.
The DIY Mahe 36 Hard Top is very easy and cheap to make.

Re: Looking at GB for Lagoon 410 Hard Top

Hey Steve, Congrats on finding a stock hardtop! We crossed over and are now in Miami on the way to Marathon. Saw a ton of 410's in the Bahamas, but no hardtops..Can't wait to see the results.. Sid

If only this fitted the 380 as well, I reckon you'd have a heap more interest.

The interest is there and the Fabricator is looking into the 380 as well.

Re: Looking at GB for Lagoon 410 Hard Top

UPDATE!
I have a production date for the first top of June 18th. This will be installed on my boat, checked for fit, and quality.
The price has been set at $4,900.
I've been contacted by 8 very interested 410 Owners.
NO MONEY HAS BEEN ASKED FOR AT THIS TIME!
The builder will honor this price until production starts.

Anyone interested contact me at sdolan@scannersllc.com to be put on the list.

A couple of new things on the top.

At first we thought the top was only a single thickness. It turns out there is a "sandwich" of material giving it more rigidity and load capacity in areas.
The original windscreen appears to be able to be reused. It has a zipper at the top and track on the salon deck. There will be a need to fabricate a fabric piece with zipper to reuse the zipper function on the front cross support. As I am a zipper hater I'll be looking into something else.
We are looking into replacing the original metal hat straps to secure the top to the frames with a "plastic" hat that will not rust like the originals seem to do after a time.
I'm still looking into a clear smoked hatch option for the operable hatch at the helm. This will probably be something that will be an added cost since it would be farmed out to a subcontractor.
The top will not be predrilled for the securing hat clips. Do to small variations in the frames this seemed like a good idea.
The Top estimated weight is under 130lb! Total!
Shipping to anywhere in the world! There is interest as far as OZ and Thailand.

Any questions please ask.

Re: Looking at GB for Lagoon 410 Hard Top

Been a while since I posted about the hardtop so here is what's happened.
We were suppose to have the first one completed by know but as with all plans with the complexity and logistics of this project things didn't go quite as planed. The owner of the 410 with the top that was to be used for the mold didn't stop in Florida on his way back North, in fact he ended up spending a lot of time enjoying the Caribbean and his crew ran out of time so did a direct route home with a great weather window. So the top mold wasn't done on this trip. We also had only 2 people ending up signing on the dotted line for the top and this also had to be figured into the planing with BiminiHardTops schedule and how busy he has been with the 440, 450, and I forget the even bigger boats he's been swamped with fabricating and installing for. You can see his great work and tops on some of the posts on the Lagoon Site and
Dedicated Marine HOME - Dedicated Marine .

We really need 5 people to sign up for this to make Chris get excited to put this into his schedule. I'll be posting to a few other sites to get the word out and generate interest as well so anyone who may be interested please let me know and I can get you more info if needed.

This will be done, I won't waste my money on another Rag Top.
