Re: Navigating Lagoons price list - Engines and Props

Good tip, thanks.

First time buying a new Boat, (or in fact, a boat !). Lots to learn.

What I have learnt so far however, is to trust brokers about as far as one can toss them....

Regards

Mark.

I believe the 57hp engine is a 4 cylinder engine and the 40hp is 3 cylinder so their must be a weight difference. Their web site does show the 40 hp (3 cylinder available as a 54hp (not continious hp.--and they have a new 45hp engine.

Catapault,
Sorry you are having such frustrations, but I have some info for you here that might help....

In addition to your query here about Engines and Props, below you'll find some recent threads about Lagoon Price lists and options....

However, the hurdle to overcome prior, is Lagoon's Price list !!. So looking for a hand with anyone that has done it to decipher it for sure.
Please have a look at some recent threads here, dealing with Lagoon Price Lists, and equipping/commissioning ideas and recommendations....
You will learn a lot...
(and I hope you get this info before you sign the contract!)

Navigating Lagoons price list - Engines and Props

Part of your answer lies in where and how you intend to travel. If your going ocean cruising, enter atolls with strong current access, etc then you will want that extra hp. Weve have found ourselves in oceans against the wind and some times the current and again, the extra hp go us out of it sooner. Ive also been in 6kt atoll entrances with near full power. If you intend to mosy around the caribbean or med then the the smaller engines should be fine. From a resale point of view, the larger engines will give you an advantage. Along with having other options.

The L52 is underpowered with the 75hp engines and Lagoon after a lot of feedback are now offering the 80hp Yanmar.

Up until a few years ago Lagoon were installing three blade Flexofolds on the Yanmar 54hp engines. We have them, very happy with them. Your agent should advise you further on the brand and type on the L42.
