Hi Poppycat, I have a new FP Elba 45 ex factory arriving around July 2021, I need a steering lock for it, your's looks simple and effective can you advise what brand it is and where can I buy one or did you make it. Could you also comment on any downsisde such as stress on the wheel spoke, I only need it for backing in to a berth to stop the wheel spinning around.
The jamming of one's knee in to the wheel to stop the wheel spinning does not suit me.
Interestingly enough when I test sailed the Astria 42 that did spin strongly when backing, did not like it at all.
When I test sailed a Hellia 44 quite different, no spin at all however it had hydroulic steering.
My prevous Lagoon 400 had a friction nut in the centre of the wheel all I had to do was hand tighen that nut with my hand and it locked the wheel solid a real good thing.
Thanks in advance Peter in Melbourne.
