220 Volt controller

Hi,

I am in the process of buying a Lagoon 380. The surveyor mentioned in his report that the 220V circuit is not compliant because it does not have a voltage controller. Does anyone knows what a 220V voltage controller looks like so I can install one?

Thanks

no idea what he's talking about... there is no such thing. you will need to be specific

but if you are buying a 230v euro boat for canada you may run into a few issues.

I think you should paste exactly the language used in the report, along with information on the system to which it is related (shorepower, generator, inverter, some or all of these).

Re: 220 Volt controller

I went back to the surveyor (twice) to figure out what he was talking about. Although his specific words were "voltage controller", the picture he sent me shows a voltage monitor. I ordered one on Amazon. Problem solved.

Smac999 h - I am planning to register the boat in Canada but due to import fees and taxes, I will not take it there.

Thank you

Re: 220 Volt controller

Well, that makes a bit of sense. Any chance the surveyor's first language is something other than English? In many Romance languages "control" can be used in the sense of "observe" or "monitor", and this can get lost in translation.

Re: 220 Volt controller

Good observation HeywoodJ,

The surveyor is based out of Guadeloupe and has a french name. French is probably his first language.
