240V mains etc

My IP I am told my IP accepts various input voltages from shore power. My Genset is 8KW 240V. The boat is wired for standard UK 240V supply internally.

With plans to cruise further afield I am conscious that I will be connecting to various different shore power standards.

I have a plague of mains appliances on board including washing machine, ice maker, computers etc. All the usual stuff.

I should know the answer but I am not certain I do. I know some will be fine to run on different power standards, but will everything be good to run? When you buy an appliance in the WI or America say for local 120V how will this cope when being run off the Genset for example.

In short what concerns and thoughts should I have for the various appliances on board be they sourced in the UK or perhaps purchased on our travels?

Thank you.

Re: 240V mains etc

Most appliances designed for 120v won’t be happy @240v and vice versa. There are exceptions, those with a power supply that supplies DC usually are voltage and frequency agnostic, but not always.
