Yep. It's so the electrically challenged will buy it. It is hard to sell something retail with just a bunch of wires coming out.

Besides if you just use it for something small like a cell phone charger or laptop you will be nowhere near the wattage limit.

Also if you are going to be using it to full capacity? you will be better off buying a 1000w or better pure sine wave inverter, hard wired in with 0 guage wires, and 100amp fuse directly to batteries.
