Adjustable Rail Mount for Medium / Large Solar Panels

Hi

didnt want to hijack the prior thread, so...

i'm planning to add med/large (eg kyocera 85 or 130 W) panels and was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for off-the-shelf hardware to mount to rails, preferably adjustable at least for azimuth/altitude. i dont want a stern post/solarstick thingy. anyone have any good experiences?

Try Boat Mounting Hardware for Solar Panels

I have never tried using this company, so I cannot give a review!

I have used this company (emarine) for their mounting hardware and can recommend them.

Re: adjustable rail mount for med/large solar panels

You could try stainless steel tubing / 1" with eye ends and
attach those onto stern rails using Gemini Side Mounts, heavy 316 stainless, great design... I sell them. There's the disclaimer.

Re: adjustable rail mount for med/large solar panels

This has worked for us for 10 years now, even in 150 MPH hurricanes! It is SS tubing bent into shape, with SS rod gussets to make it REALLY strong. The solar panel is in a separate 1.5 X 1.5" aluminum angle frame with 4 flat bar cross pieces. They are held on & tensioned with 4 thumbscrew bar clamps. Only in storms do I rig the kevlar downlines. The rack is clamped with saddles & hose clamps to the sternrail's upright legs.

The adjustable feature really helps on rare marginal days, otherwise we are 100% solar, 95% of the time.

Go for it... Mark

Re: Adjustable Rail Mount for Medium / Large Solar Panels

I used these with 1" rail. 2 come to a package Amazon.com: Rail Mount Brackets Railmount Brkt-13/4X13/4 Plate *Pr*: Sports & Outdoors

I traded out one bolt for a longer one to run through the holes in the panel with a washer.........i2f
