Advice for panel manufacturer

Any advice for companies? I will be checking out Ocean Planet, a sponsor. Also Renogy. Any others?

Ones to stay away from?

I am going rigid and will be making frame, which will replace part of my bimini.

Re: Advice for panel manufacturer

Sadly looks like Panasonic and LG (life is Good) have pulled out of the market as two of the better makes. Supply in the UK a bit thin on the ground at the moment as there has been a 70% surge in people fitting solar with huge price increases in energy.

Re: Advice for panel manufacturer

Three years into Renogy 100 watt rigid panels (older larger and new compact design). Have worked with no problems, just get them in the sun. Shade is not your friend when making electricity.

Also great experience with Victron MPPT controllers (3 ea 75/15).

Advice? Don't skimp on customer service. Renogy makes decent product but god forbid if you ever need customer support. I stopped buying from them when I'm had to go through all sorts of gymnastics to RMA a DOA inverter. They tried everything to avoid the return, including telling me that 12.8v resting on a FLA battery bank meant my batteries were shot and needed to be replaced (bank was 4-month old T105s).

Ive used sunpower for years but the mfg has become hard to buy from. Thie boat I have now has Solara panels which work fine and are a lot more affordable

Ocean Planet have terrific after sales service.
But, I don't think they sell rigid panels.
Flexible are the way to go.

Get a hold of Tom Trimmer (or his son) at Custom Marine Products. Great folks, good products, and good service. Not the least expensive, but I'd go there again for any solar needs in a heartbeat.
