We dont have a permanent generator either. We do have the factory air conditioning though, but its an AC setup. We either run it at the dock, or use our Honda 2200. It will power the 18k btu unit. However, most times we just open the hatches as air flow is excellent.
Seawind does offer the rainman watermaker now installed. it is a A/C watermaker.

Re: Air Conditioning & Watermaker on a no-Gen cat - AC vs DC

Rainman offers an AC and a DC "portable" watermaker that caught our interest. Same unit as the hard install unit, but it comes in a polycarbonate case, like a generator. (Ac/DC and gasoline engine options) This intrigued us because fairly light and AC or DC can plug into our Honda EU2000 generator or use boat DC (the DC option produces much less gallons per minute - 30+ per hour versus 7-9 per hour). This also lets us easily remove the water system if we get another boat/rv/camping or need service on the unit (just pick up and bring to the shop = cheaper than a service call on boat). Cost for either installed unit or the portable was about the same, $2,800 including a few spare filters in a promo ad.
