Ample Power 120A Alternator

Hi,
I’m in the UK and finding spares for the above alternator is impossible.
I am getting a verity of readings when I test the diodes so I’m guessing they are shot. I also need new brushes and bearings - these I probably can source in the UK.
I know it’s a long shot but are spares for the 120A Ample Power alternators available in the USA particularly the diodes?
Thanks
David

Re: Ample Power 120A Alternator

My Ample Power alternator was a modified GM Delco 10DN alternator. The 10DN was General Motor's first alternator and was used in the US from 1969 to 1983. All the parts should be available in the UK, and any alternator shop in the UK should be able to repair it if yours is also a modified 10DN and if Vauxhall also used the alternator. I bet they did.

You may find the 12V Doctor's Alternator Book to be useful. http://www.nautickiforum.com/biblioteka/alternatori.pdf

Re: Ample Power 120A Alternator

I lived for 5 years (1990-1994) in Cockermouth then in Hartlepool, I drove Rovers and once had an Austin Estate, but I never had a Vauxhall.
