Anyone knows where to get these or compatible breakers?

2005 Beneteau - need to add a breaker/circuit and looking for something that fill fit into the existing panel. I've looked at the label and online search shows them either out of stock or bulk order only.

Does this appear to be a compatible unit?

You are right, looks similar. I've searched on Amazon, WestMarine, etc for BlueSea or similar breakers and see some options, but few sides show the back with terminals.

The op has an airpax part. The blue sea is a carlingswitch part.
The mounting dimensions look to be nearly identical.

It is just known as an "A-series" circuit breaker. They are widely available from many sources... like amazon. The link below allows you to select Amp rating, color, etc...

Re: Anyone knows where to get these or compatible breakers?

Those were used in the computer and electronics industry long before they were adapted by boat builders. They are available in the same dimensions from a few manufacturers. Carling switch and Airpax are two but I'll bet that there are more.

They are magnetically triggered, better than thermal because trip current is not effected by temperature.

Shop around at the big electronics suppliers and you should be able to find them.

The boating industry chose to color code the toggles on these some time ago so sourcing from marine suppliers might be limited to white and red.

Appears Airpax I think? They are actually breakers used in 120v circuits. The used marine store here locally had a bucket of them, new, for $1 each a couple years ago.

These are standard "A" Series single pole circuit breakers available at West Marine, Defender, Jamestown Distributers, Pacer Marine, etc.

Re: Anyone knows where to get these or compatible breakers?

Even lots of these look the same, there are some slight differences. The front facing screw/nut size on many is 4 mm and I doubt as the USA brands are in mm likely 5/32 (from memory). And yes, BlueSeas is imperial.
External sizes can also be marginally different, up to 0.5 mm compared with BlueSeas. Height or depth of these units can vary by a few millimeters.
Lastly the screws on the terminals have either 5 mm or 3/16 thread.

And very lastly, the quality can be different, generally inverse to the price

On edit: not even sure about the front screw sizes: could be 1/8 and 3 mm.

HankOntheWater
The size of the fasteners that hold the breaker do not matter as the screws come with the breaker. Similarly for the screws holding the termination to the line and load tabs; new fasteners come with the new breaker.
I have never had a problem installing Blue Sea branded breakers in a French panel.

Re: Anyone knows where to get these or compatible breakers?

There are a couple of things to watch out for: 1) while the footprint against the panel should be the same, the depth may not be. If the feed to the breakers is all wire then no problem but if the feed is a copper buss bar then the different depths will require cutting the bar (I have this problem). and 2) IIRC not all breakers in this form factor are rated for DC operation as the primary use is AC. Look for AC/DC rated, not just AC (I doubt there are any DC-only variants).

Greg

Edit: The breaker in the photo is not rated for 12VDC usage: it is rated for 80VAC-250VAC. It may or may not work correctly on 12VDC.
