Automatic Switch???

My boat is set up with 230 Volt AC System (alternating current, not air conditioning!). I am going to install a Xantrex Prosine inverter to take the 24Volt DC battery power up to 230 Volt AC to operate the house outlets and microwave. The inverter has a built in transfer switch that favors the Generator/shore power leg over the inverter so the inverter is only providing power when necessary.

When I'm plugged into a 110V shore power supply, I don't want the 110V power to flow through the inverter transfer switch because it would fry the microwave or cause problems for 230 volt appliances plugged into the house outlets.

Is there a voltage sensing switch that would automatically disconnect the AC power to the inverter (installed in-line) when the shore power is supplying 110V power?

Thanks for your replies!

Re: Automatic Switch???

Why are you plugging a boat that is fitted out for 230V appliances into a 110V shore supply.

Re: Automatic Switch???

Because it is set up to permit that. The Battery Chargers and Air Conditioners will run off either 230V 50hz or 110V 60hz. The larger appliances (microwave etc.) cannot be run while on 110V shore power.

The inverter is for anchoring out or during sailing.
