Automatic transfer switch question...

I have an automatic transfer switch. The input options are labelled 'shore power' and 'generator', however I want to wire my shore power and inverter into the switch. (No generator is being used). Can I wire my inverter into the generator input? Other than a delay on my inverter supplying power, is there any reason it wont work properly?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. Your switch can't tell the difference and won't care. The labeling is for convenience.

As an observation, please be careful, especially if f you don't have some experience and comfort with systems like these.

Re: Automatic transfer switch question...

yes. but likly in the auto transfer switch the gen is primary and the shore is secondary.

if so you would want to put the shore in the gen input and the inverter in the shore input.

otherwise when plugged into the shore you'll still be using the inverter instead.
