Balmar ARS-4 Programming Question

Hello,

I'm apparently unable to change my ARS-4 from the default (PRG-1 Factory Program) to PRG-2 Deep Cycle Flooded program. I follow the directions from documentation (Section IV at https://www.balmar.net/wp-content/up...tor-Manual.pdf) but the change doesn't seem to save.

In short, I turn the key on and wait for it to enter ramp/up stage (lights 1 and 2 on), then touch the magnet to the reed switch to get the flashing lights indicating switch is activated. I hold in place until the the lights cycle through indicating PRG#2 (lights 1, 2, 5, 7) then remove the magnet. I wait several seconds and get the save indicator light then it restarts. On start-up it indicates PRG-1 (lights 1 and 5), not PRG-2 (lights 1, 2 and 5).

What am I missing?

Alternator and regulator otherwise work okay. I"m trying to increase the amount of time the alternator stays in bulk mode to charge my 430 Ah bank (4 FLA golf cart batteries).

Re: Balmar ARS-4 Programming Question

on the newer one it takes a few mins to save. are you sure you are waiting long enough before turning the key off? "several secs" seems short, but I'm not used to the older ones.

on the newer one there is no harm to leave it on. I would program and leave it on for 5 mins and then try again.
