You understood this post from CatNewBee:

....the SOC must show 100% when the battery cannot accept more charges and is full, SOC does not mean capacity, a battery of 20Ah can be at 100% SOC as well as a 1000Ah battery, it is a relative figure to the capability of charge acceptance.

Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

Got your point. With a Voltmeter you can tell the SOC on a resting battery, it is almost 0.1V for 10% SOC, a AGM is full at 12.8V, 90% at 12.7... empty at 11.8V, a GEL is similar, 12.6V is full, 11.6V almost empty.

Knowing the inner resistance and the current you can estimate the resting voltage at 0 current and guess the SOC, by counting coulombs or Ah and repeating the calculation, you can approximate / guess the capacity of an unknown batter in LA chemistry. For LFP you may need a depp cycle hitting the shoulders.

Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

Had a photo taken of the State-of-Health reading on the SG200. This battery bank (flooded lead acid, 740 AH) has probably been cycled down 30-50% almost daily for the past month. So the SG200 should have had a chance to do its stuff. I was actually expecting a lower value, given the batteries are now in their third season. But quite happy if this is actually the case.

Definitely a bug on the Victron side, where sometimes the CCGX will show the net charging current, and other times it doesn't. Nothing changed in the system, other than power cycling of the chargers as AC power comes and goes. This image shows everything working nicely, with the pair of chargers delivering their fully rated output (2x60A).

Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

I ordered a SG200 and the Bluetooth connection from Westmarine. The SH200 showed up 2 months ago the Bluetooth still hasn’t shown itself. Is there a problem with this part does anyone have information on if it’s available anywhere?

You might consider returning it for a full refund after reading this thread.

Would I buy it? Well, this is personal taste, I don't like amber gauges and smart stuff that develops an independent life out of control.

.

I thought the color ugly too. Still bought one, changed the color theme. Mine's blue now.

Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

River Cruiser,
The BT Gateway was delayed in release, and we are working hard to get it ready and out the door. Wm and a few other outlets did not pull it from or put a hold on the item from their selling tools, so you were able to order it. I don't know if they will automatically send it to you when ready (Shortly we hope). Sorry for the delay.

Chris

Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

On the CCGX, you can chose to use the BMV as the DC measurement source, or the Multiplus, which works ok if it is the only DC consumer. Perhaps you have this set incorrectly?

Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

I have an SG200 with 2 shunts, since day one the display is dropping banks and the only way I can get the data back is to perform a network reset. When I do this the data is available for a short time then I must do the same thing again to see the data. Any ideas of how I can resolve this? I have talked with Balmar 1/2 dozen time plus my boat builder have talked with them many times as well.

To date we have
Redone all Deutsch connectors
Replaced the display

Both shunts are plugged directly into the display.
