Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

What did Balmar advise?
That the new software would correct it?
Are your shunts for different banks rather than different loads on same bank?

How did you do this? And, I'm I'm not sure why you'd want to call it "mastershunt".
Seeing its not yet perfected (the app), that may be hard.
Clear as mud.

Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

Good news, we have begun mfg of the Bluetooth Gateway, SG2-0300. It should become available through our distribution channel during the next few weeks. Simultaneously apps have been submitted to both the Apple and Google stores. The name of the app is Balmar SmartLink. We are a bit at the mercy of those companies as to when it is released.

The Newport Boatshow starts today. We are in tent B. There are some gateways available at the show. If you have an android device and cannot wait for the app, I can help, otherwise I hope it will be approved in the coming days in both stores.

For those that bought an SG200 as part of the early adopter program, you should be contacted in the next few days about getting your gateway.

This turned out to be a big effort on our part, but we are not done yet. The firmware included with the initial release fixes some issues with the SoH, and there are other fixes our roadmap. The functionality of the app is pretty basic now, there are enhancements in the works too.

This functionality is used to increase the current carrying abilities of the product, doubling the number to,700a continuous.. We put off the feature but it will make it into the app soon, see my other post today.

Lowering the charge v (assuming under your charge profile set points) I would have thought would artificially inflate SOH but for me seemed to crash SOH (93% - 89% - 6%). Not what I would have thought.

Tail current in the 2-4% range would indicate a bank is only in the upper 90%'s charge but certainly not 100%.
What is your tail current % set to?

Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

I installed the Balmar SG 200 with my new Battleborn 600 ah house bank, 1,050 watt solar array, and 400 watt wind generator. I love the SG 200, but I do not get a true SOH reading. It fluctuates wildly.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Just saying per manual gospel.
Were you asking me Al, or marty?

My charge termination was set to 1%, yet SOC hits 100% at 20A, which is
4%. Which is the reverse of the manual.
So maybe while waiting for a dongle I should do opposite & set it at 0.5%?

Last cycle I discharged to 12.3V (rested), SOC 47%. It took around 3hrs to get a TC of 20A.

SOH is still pegged on 100%.

Both shunts are plugged directly into the display.
This sounds as if you have (two) shunts on different banks connected to the same gauge?
I did not think this was possible?

My tail current was always set at default (I’m guessing that’s based on capacity and perhaps type). I forget offhand what the exact number was

Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

The app is now available on the Apple store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/balmar...456407105?ls=1

It have been approved by Google, but as of a minute ago it was not yet on the store.

For those that are experiencing the SoH fluctuating, this is addressed in the firmware release included in the first app release.

Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

Chris,
Does the software update require additional hardware to install? The only issue I have with the SG 200 is the SOH reading fluctuating.
Thanks,
Taylor

Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor

You need the bluetooth module connected to the display to update the firmware
