Battery monitor options

I'm looking to install a battery monitor. My first thought is to buy a Balmar SG200 because I have had luck with their alternator and external regulator.

The price of the SG200 is reasonable and the unit is small which I like. I read on this forum that it is accurate. I also like its simplicity … a single button.

Before I purchase one, do you have a suggestion for others I should look at? Maybe there is another one that is even better.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Re: Battery monitor options

Exactly which batteries comprise the bank you want to monitor?

Have you read this?

I was thinking the same, but the thread on here about it is fairly unconvincing. I'm running a victron too, the 702 as it's connected to my ccgx so no need for Bluetooth

I am +1 on the Victron (BMV712). Love to read that thread you mention.

Re: Battery monitor options

I have the newcomer Simarine installed. Very happy with its ease of installation, versatility, ease of use and the way it looks!

Re: Battery monitor options

As long as you want to be assured of (relatively) accurate voltage & SoC readings a few times a day

without fussing with frequent resets to 100% or recalibrating CEF, Peukert value and updated SoH% capacity,

and don't need ammeter, Ah readings.

I recommend the old-school Merlin SmartGauge.

Re: Battery monitor options

All you really need is a digital panel meter in some obvious area of the boat. Walk past it and glance at it - easy.
