Battery / Solar disconnect

Hi All,
Quick question, in what order should the house bank be disconnected from solarpannels (MPPT)?
First at battery terminal then MPPT then solar panels? Or in the opposite order?

I want to add a smart shunt to the negative side of the house bank.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Battery / Solar disconnect

It depends on the solar controller. Victron doesn't care. I don't know about others but have read that it matters. In any case I'd start with the panels and remove the source of power first.

Another way is to disconnect the panels at night or while they are covered with a blanket or tarp.

Thanks. I’ll need to find the Silent wind manual to see what they say.
The „night action“ is a great idea. Thanks for the replies.

Re: Battery / Solar disconnect

A: Disconnect solar panels first. Next disconnect the regulator from the battery.

---

On connecting (Victron MPPT) - connect to the regulator to the battery first, only then connect the regulator to the panels.

Rant : From my experience with (one generic PWM, one Victron MPPT) going nuts and disconnecting at random did not break anything (done in daylight).

Cheers,
b.
