Belt tightener tool home made

I always hated prying on the alternator to get a good tension on the belt so I made up this simple tol. It consist of a threaded rod, 2 nuts, 2 washers and 2 wood blocks. I drilled a hole the size of the rod in the blocks about a inch deep. pulley to pulley was about 10 inches so I cut the rod about 8 inches+-. It works great with no prying on the alternator. Cost me less than 3 bucks.

I tried to add a picture but I'm new here and hope it works

Re: Belt tightener tool home made

That's a great idea, especially if you can't get the pry bar in between the engine and the alternator due to lack of space.
