BEP Motorised Battery Switch Feedback Please

Does anyone have experience of the BEP Motorised Remote Battery Switch? If so, what are your thoughts?

I hadn't come across them in the past but saw them while researching remote battery switches? Apart from the current loading aspects, how would they compare with the ML (magnetic latching) Blue Seas style of remote switch.

Yep, saw that one thanks C43

Given the deafening roar of silence, I'm supposing not many CF members have used them. Thus I am more likely to continue using the Blue Seas ML (magnetic latching) series of remote battery switches instead of the BEP motor drive switch.

I guess I trust the magnetic latch circuitry more than a motor drive but hey, the BEP MD switches look cool when operating.

In my opinion the TE connectivity relays ( 100,200,500A) with the internal economiser circuit are the best compromise as they “ fail safe “ ie fail opEn. I had latching relays on the last boat bit always for a little concerned that I needed power to turn them off.

Blue sea sell them at outrageous markups. Available from the electronics components supply chains at a fraction of that markup.

7A to operate but 135mA holding current.

I hear you re the dollars and it is a valid point.

Presumably the concerns about needing power to turn them OFF is overcome by using the manual override provisions and (perhaps?) by using the auto releasing version of the Blue Seas ML series.

My problem with the blue seas units is aside from the truely outrageous pricing is that fact that there is electronics inside to effect the auto release. If that goes up in smoke the relay will not fail safe

I prefer the TE version with the economiser ( 130 mA holding ) at $60 or so

TE EV200AAANA New Energy Automotive Relay 1618002-7 High Voltage DC Contactor

This is truely failsafe

Re: BEP Motorised Battery Switch Feedback Please

It pays to shop around...

Blue Seas ML Bi Stable latching relay - about $310 AUD
TE EV200AAANA relay - about $290 AUD (from Mouser Electronics)
TE EV200AAANA relay - about $80 AUD (from AliExpress)

That is a huge difference between Mouser Electronics and AliExpress - assuming we are comparing apples with apples.

So I'm not the only one that has noted AliExpress prices. I have only bought cheap items so far to test them out and so far I haven't had any dramas.

I’ve used them some years in our LFP setup. They act as mainswitches to separate different batterybanks from the electrical system: LA, main LFP bank and spare LFP bank in our Yacht.

The beauty of these switches is that it can controlled remotely simply by giving ground to the green signal cable of one switch - then it is ON state. Disconnecting the ground changes the switch to OFF state. In our just renewed Main panel I’m controlling the battery banks with simple switches seen right of the Emergency button (which disconnects all LFP banks from the system using those green signal wires). My BMS is giving the ground to these LFP bank switches and disconnects it at critical happenings. Never occured allthough.

I’m very happy with those Bep-motorized switches and have of course also those Blue Sea latching relays as a backup.

Greetings from Finland,

IHe

Is that a real panel or a photoshop markup?
