Blue Sky 3000i MPPT Controller

I'm planning to install two 125 watt solar panels and was thinking of using the Blue Sky 3000i controller. I like that it has a display and an optional temperature sensor for a good price.

Is this a good controller choice? Should I consider other controllers?

To reduce the wiring I'm thinking of wiring the two panels in series (about 34v) and then let the controller reduce the voltage for the 12v batteries. Am I right that even if one panel drops out due to shading, the controller will just work with the 17v voltage of the remaining panel without any adjustment on my part?

Thanks for any advice

If you have shading issues, connect them in parallel.
There are lots of threads here which will concur.

3 panels in parallel, BlueSky MPPT, LiFePo4 400 ah bank.
Have all the toys, never plugged into shore in 2 years.

Also consider a Rogue 3048. A temperature sensor is included as standard equipment as well as a USB connection interface for complete control and analysis. A display panel is available, but if you have a Victron or Link type battery monitor, it's probably not necessary.

+1 the Rogue and the new Midnite Kid are probably the best controllers of this sort of size.

There have been general supporting comments for the Blue Sky, Rogue, and Midnite, mppt controllers, but not much in the way of specifics. Specific comments on issues such as; ham and ssb noise, installation requirements, and customer support for the individual controllers would be helpful to me, and probably to Carl.
