Cold machine problem

Does anyone know what the remedy of this one would be? I have an Adler-Barbour Cold Machine DCM-12 which works fine, cycling on and off every 7 minutes or so, running for perhaps 4 minutes.

Once in a while, it does not cool, and the thermostat keeps it running for hours. When manually turned off, and right on again, it starts cooling again, and all seems fine--for a while.

Thanks, appreciate any advice,
Dan

Re: Cold machine problem

I'd replace the drier and or the expansion valve assuming its replaceable. It sounds like there may be a piece of something blocking the valve

Re: Cold machine problem

Check the thermostat. Easy to replace. Make sure the thermostat sensor is correctly positioned.

On 7 and off 4 does not sound right. My adler is on 20 and off 20.

Re: Cold machine problem

How old and well used is your ab? Mine is ten years old and never a problem after installation.

Re: Cold machine problem

No idea how old, but certainly 10 years.

Not sure if this is the thermostat, like I said, sometimes it does not cool, for that reason the thermostat never turns the motor off. Fan always works, btw.
