DC / AC inverter connection help?

Where to connect on basic 2 bank AGM system with 1-2-both switch.
Simply connect to pos batt 1 and neg batt 2?

Or use 1-2-both switch for pos wire and ground the neg wire?

The inverter is intended for small jobs, solar install is next.

Assuming you have heavy wire from each bank to the 1-2-both switch, I would connect the negative lead to your negative buss (should be common to both batteries) and the positive lead (through a fuse or circuit breaker, of course) to the common point of your 1-2-both switch. That way you can turn the switch off and monkey with the wiring if you need to without generating any sparks .

Without knowing the size of the inverter, it is hard to answer.


Usually the wires to & from the inverter are HEAVY because of the load. Therefore, they are usually connected directly to the battery bank, NOT to switch, because the wire between the switch and the bank are smaller than required for an inverter power draw.


I recommend you read the installation manual for your inverter.
