Deck cable penetrations

Advice again please…: What’s the best way of getting a solar panel cable through a horizontal deck? Upside down J pipe? Cable gland, such as Scanstrut? It will not be feasible to use any of the existing ss hardware such as the pushpit railing, or whatever.
It will be accessing the lazarette where a tiny drip now and then won’t be a major crisis, but I’d prefer something that really works well. This must be a common problem that many would have valuable experience in solving… I'm kind of hoping for a do-it-yourself "aha!" solution...
Cheers!

I have a lot of pet peeves in my old age drilling holes in your boat is one of them , I would suggest using existing penetration no new holes

Re: Deck cable penetrations

Baby tug beat me to it so I second that. That said the hole itself takes special car to finish.
A water tight threaded collar epoxied in the hole. I bought a SeaRay Sundancer years ago not knowing the previous owner screwed silly horns on the coach roof. I noticed one horn vibrating on the glass causing damage. I removed the silly horns and found 3 mounting holes delaminating and one with a broken drill bit it it. He had just put cheap silicone in where the original SeaRay horn mounts were. Fortunately they were factory treated holes so no migration had started.

There's quite a few choices.

Re: Deck cable penetrations

I've been using Index Marine for years. Even big ones at the foot of the mast that let me - with a 'big' hole in coachroof - draw all the connectors out when taking out the mast.

This is what I would choose in your situation - no need to drill a hole in the 'bung'

Second choice that I haven't used would be BlueSea - all their other kit is good.
