It could show him how much shading is affecting his solar harvest and help in determining better locations for the panels. You can't make good decisions without data.

How did farmers determine what feed to use to fatten their pigs? Someone actually measured the growth rate of pigs on different feed mixtures and figured out the most cost effective feed. I'm thinking they used a scale to do so.

Now is a good time for some more thread drift .
Not only did we weigh the pigs, we used ultrasound to measure the thickness of their backfat layer. Good data gives a better feed mixture which gives a market ready pig in a shorter time and thus better return...

Good solar data gives better charging of batteries which leads to longer battery life.
