ELCI and isolation transformers

Yo electrical specialists! Is there any reason why an ELCI cant be included when wiring in an isolation transformer, between dock power source input and the transfomer, so the circuit breaks if the iso transfomer itself experiences a fault or hot case? I see one ABYC wiring diagram that seems to suggest this is ok.
