Espar D5L replacement thermostat

I have an early 1990’s model Airtronic D5L that runs great but the external thermostat seems to be sticking so the heater will not cycle as it should. I’m looking at replacing it with the Espar DigiMax 1000 but can’t seem to get a definitive answer as to whether it is compatible. Anyone here replaced their old thermostat with a digital model. This is a picture of my current model.
