I agree and would loose the stern uprights and angled pieces to replace with two simple 3/4" dia pieces to stop the frame from wobbling side to side. I had to do something similar.

First is a 150w panel which has now been replaced with 300w in the second photo.

How big are those 44 x 20" panels in watts? could you use a single bigger and therefore cheaper house panel?

As much as I abhor arches set on the stern, this doesn't look half bad.

But you've already got 9 feet of overhand on a 21 ft waterline, and you are adding about 2 feet more. So you will have approximately 50% of the length of the boat's waterline length as overhang. Look at photo 2. That's what you're going to be doing in any kind of chop

And it's still made with cheapo fittings and set screws so you won't have a strong, unitary construction.

And it's still going to add windage.

And if you cave into the urge to pile junk on it, everything gets worse.

So I still recommend against doing it. (but I know you're going ahead with it anyhow)
