Freedom 25/Link 2000 Invertor only?

My Link 2000 is not giving correct readings for my Freedom 25 Charger/Invertor when charging. I've tried the Link 2000 reset but the same problems persist. I plan to get a new charger and a Victron 700 and continue to use the Freedom 25 as an invertor. Any problems with this?

I can't think of any problems you might have with that. The battery monitor is a "black box" in that it just gives you data on the batteries and current. It shouldn't affect the inverter. You could keep the Link 2000 installed too if you wanted as a backup and put in a separate shunt for the Victron.

Why bother buying the V700? Use the Link 2000 as your battery monitor, then get a Smart Gauge. You'd have the best of both worlds: coulomb counter & a SG.

What readings specifically?

I can't trust the Link 2000 readings. I've purchased the Victron 700 and a 90 amp charger. I will use the old Link 25 as an inverter only.

The Link monitors are notorious crap. Ours was one of the first things we deep sixed off Gray Hawk. That Victron looks like a pretty capable unit. We use a Trimetric for the same function but I suspect your Victron is a more elegant solution. Don't discount the old Heart inverter though. They are great old workhorses. Virtually bulletproof and a very good output. We've had a couple of them and I have yet to find the equipment they won't run.

That would be fine if you didn't have to put in a separate shunt just for the Victron and still have to have the one for the Link2k. It would still work but would be kind of clutzy to have two in a row.

We had a HI 2500 and it was a great performer both charging and inverting. I never noticed a real issue with our Link 2000 while we had the boat. I checked the voltage and current amp reading pretty often with my Fluke meter right to the batteries and I never noticed any aberrations. I never trust the Ahr readings for capacity from any meter so that wasn't an issue for me. Seems like I must be a dinosaur in this group since everyone is still trying to find the best battery capacity meter and I just never had a good reason to have one.
