Fuse size on Victron Orion 12/30

Hey folks!

I have a 30A Victron Orion dc2dc charger that recommends a 60A fuse on the positive lead from both batteries. If on the battery that receives the charge I have a 75A MRBF fuse (where all my charging sources are connected to), and the wire between that and the dc2dc charger can handle that amount of current, would there be any reason to add an extra 60A fuse?

FWIW, the charger's manual doesn't mention what the fuse is protecting, but I assume it's the wire.

Re: Fuse size on Victron Orion 12/30

The manual recommends 8AWG wire for voltage drop reasons - the fuse is rated to protect the wire, which depending on temperature can take 68-80 amps. This seems like overkill, however, so I used 8AWG wire with a 40 amp breaker.

If the wire is safe for 75A, there is no need to fit the 60A fuse.
Your assumption is reasonable.
