Generator Capacitor

Well that sux, I adjust mine when it’s running otherwise it’s going to be hit and miss of course. I doubt it’s corrosion, cause that bugger is constantly moving, when off it goes to fully open of course and then backs off after it starts, so if it were binding, I think it’s RPM may stick high, then go low etc.
Yes my water pump sprang a leak too and sprayed water everywhere.

Re: Generator Capacitor

I’ve put the governor adjustment at both stops, hardly makes any difference either way.

Re: Generator Capacitor

That doesn’t make any sense, it should make a large difference, you sure you have the governor control arm and not something else? Maybe the stop solenoid arm?

Re: Generator Capacitor

Just a thread update in case someone finds the thread on a subject search.

Its been over 30 hours of generator run time since I changed the old 31.5uF capacitor to a 35uF capacitor. The voltage has been the best it even has been and mosting stays 105-120V. So far it doesn't appear to causing any problem to the generator.

Good to know how it turned out. Thanks for the update. Valuable knowledge for the future.
