Re: Help needed inverter and batteries

First step: Check that the shunt is correctly installed. On the negative side of the battery, with all power going through it and in the correct direction. There should be no other negative cable to the battery than that from the shunt.

I have a feeling that the charging current does not go through the shunt, so the shunt measures only the outgoing current. The shunt will reset to 100%, though, once it reaches a certain voltage while charging.

Re: Help needed inverter and batteries

It can’t be 13.1 volts and 75% . One or the other is off. My Balmar had a adjustment for the percentage but can’t remember the term for it. It’s a universal term used to calibrate things like this. My water flow meter has the same thing.

Re: Help needed inverter and batteries

Welcome bccoast,
Read out of instruments doesn‘t give you a real information what is going on in your installation. A false installation is giving you false information and may be lead to false interpretation and false judgements. Instrument settings can be unknown and may interfere with eachother. How are the new instruments installed, where are they hooked up. Is the shunt or shunts hooked up correctly in the installation. The only solution is to getting a good marine electrician, who can draw a real complete electric circuit plan, with all settings. Otherwise you will spent many days in your electric cabinet(s) iso enjoying you s/v. Good luck.
