hydrogenerators 2kw

I was looking for hydrogenerators for a sail boat and found some models like watt&cia, Cristec, Hydro-charger, DuoGen, ... but they are all under 600W, is there any reason for this? why don't you have 2kw, 3kw the only one that has something above is oceanvolt

Because it would take an unusually large boat going very fast to drive that much power.

Most of those have a big genset on board that produces 10x that, on demand.

Re: hydrogenerators 2kw

I would like to run my electrical needs with a perpetual motion machine that never needs re-fueling. Solar panels are the closest thing to this, I guess.
I also remember listening to a radio call-in show some years ago with someone arguing that cars could be driven by wind turbines mounted on them - after all, at highway speeds there sure is a lot of air flow you can feel keeping your arm out the window.
I suppose you could anchor in the Bay of Fundy and get the power you need, as long as your ground tackle holds.
