INVERTER VOLTS 122 / 51 / 47 !??

Lost power to a GFCI outlet. Test button popped and wouldn't reset. Swapped outlets..same issue. Let it sit with capped wires a few weeks. When finally back to it with a meter, have readings of 122V (Black-White wires), 51V (Black-Green), and 47V (White-Green).

Shore power readings 126 (B-W), 126 (B-G), and 0.0 (W-G).

Generator 135, 135, 0.0

GFCI Receptacle Tester indicates Open Ground on the Inverter. Normal on Shore Power and Generator.

Begging the question - how do I find and correct an open ground on my MasterVolt 2000W inverter?

The fact your ground has potential is not necessarily anything to do with your GFCI tripping.

What you have is current returning to the inverter by way of a return path other then neutral that’s causing the trip.

Open ground ( ie not connected to neutral ) is not the issue As regards the GFCI

You need to determine why there is current flowing outside the live and neutral

Thanks! I've wired the outlet again, and it is working...no GFCI trip. The open ground is still an issue, and I must assume there is still potential flowing back to the inverter somehow, outside of neutral. Just another challenge to address as I get the boat ready for a long winter's nap in BC.

The open ground in itself isn’t an issue other then some potential safety issues . If you have return currents flowing outside the live and neutral that needs to be tracked down

Re: INVERTER VOLTS 122 / 51 / 47 !??

The gfci only sees the hot and n. It will not know or care about the ground.

The open ground could be a failed relay in the inverter. A marine inverter connects g-n when inverting. And opens it when shore / gen passes through.

If g-n bond could also just simply be turned off in settings.
