Kiss Windgen Improvements

I am using a Kiss windgenerator for 6 years now.
Overall I like it but there are a few things to improve.
One of them is the resistance that it has to overcome when turning in to the wind direction. I get the feeling this resistance is increasing over the years.

This grey cap is supposed to be fabricated from graphite containing material, well, I am thinking of replacing that thing fi with ball bearings.
Anybody here already done this or something like this?

Cheers,
Len.

Re: Kiss windgen improvements

I have the same problem with my seven year old KISS. It is a minor problem as it doesn't put much out under 10 knots and at ten it'll usually turn into the wind. I have greased it but that doesn't work. I pulled out the little springy thing inside it as it was making things worse. John at Hotwire told me to do that. I would be interested in anything that would get rid of the resistance. I have seen some folks add a piece to the vane.

Re: Kiss Windgen Improvements

I have had the boat for nearly 9 years, and the w/g was there when I bought it. It keeps getting stiffer. I took it down, and put on some gray graphite on it. It helped, but is stiff again in low winds........i2f
