Link 2000 replacement?

I have a Freedom Marine 30 inverter/charger. Recently the Link unit stopped working all together (no lights or readout). I have tried to disconnect the phone cord and several other items from the manual and things I have gotten online. I am assuming it is dead.

Since this is pretty old and no longer made I am wondering what I would need to get to replace it. Based on previous older threads it seems that the xantrex basic remote combined with the Link Pro or Linklite would be an option even though it seems to be stepping back since it is now 2 pieces of equipment.

Is there another option that makes more sense?

Also, the Freedom Remote Control Panel (part#84-2056-01) says on their website that it controls the "Freedom Marine Series Inverter/Charger system" but if I go to source it, Amazon implies it is for the Freedom 12-25 with no mention of the 30. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000XBKMC2...v_ov_lig_dp_it

Can anyone help? OR, anyone out there have a Link 2000 for sale?

FWIW, I have 2 battery banks.

Re: Link 2000 replacement?

If you can find a used Link 2000, that would be best. In my case, not only the link 2000, but the inverter/charger died as well. My solution was to install iota battery chargers and forego the inverter. Used a Blue Seas DC multi-function meter part # 8248 which measures DC amps and volts. Fits in same cutout as link 2000. You have two batteries. I opted to charge one and have it charge the other through a Balmar Duo Charge unit. Ok, if you’re still reading this, your saying what? A simpler solution would be to replace the Freedom inverter/charger and associated controls and battery monitoring system. None of it cheap.

Link 2000 replacement?

Ryanandyracy.,

I’ve got a link 2000 in storage. I saw it a week ago. It was operational when I removed it from boat.

I’ll take a quick look tomorrow with the hope of getting it it in hand.

I’ll follow up tmrw evening.

Re: Link 2000 replacement?

If you don't get the used one from trio, pm me. I have a little known reset manual for the Link 2000. It was a bulletin from Xantrex that few people know about.

Ryanandtracy,

I gave a look this morning, but I didn’t find the box. I need help to move some of the materials to get all of boxes in a 10x20 locker that is stuffed. ( I had help when I was last there for parts.)

My departure plans have changed and I’ll have to get the locker better arranged during the next few weeks so I can add more boxes. I’ll have help then and I’ll be able to get to “hidden stuff.”

That’s the best I can do.

Roger

Thanks Wainui. I have not dealt with them before. Do you happen to know how reliable electronics would be from them? I dont see anything regarding condition or returns.

It’s a consignment store.
They do have a 30 day return policy. You buy then test immediately and if it doesn’t work send it back for a full refund

Re: Link 2000 replacement?

There is no replacement for a link 2000 as it controls an Inverter. As well as being a battery monitor.

You’d have to buy a new inverter, New inverter screen, and separate battery monitor.

It is true that the Link 2000 performs both of those functions.

However, you could buy this product to continue to control your I/C and then buy a separate battery monitor like a Victron.

Re: Link 2000 replacement?

Thank you for the reply Stu unfortunately that is the one I mentioned in my original post. Seems silly that technology has moved forward but now I have to buy 2 items to replace 1.

Wainui, I did contact Mikes but unfortunately it was already sold. Dang, nice price too.

Keep your eye on eBay. They come up fairly regularly. I believe a link 1000 will work as well. There is also a inverter only switch. Defender had some of those on clearance a while back. Still may.

If you just need to turn on the inverter doesn’t it have a switch on the front? Unplug the cable from the inverter and try it.

Also, try another RJ45 cable (pretty sure that’s it).
