Re: Low Amps: Xantrex w/ Koehler Generator

Which manual are you referring to. We have five different manuals involved at this point. The "flashed the rotor field" is not familiar to us.

If it were me I would disconnect the genset from the inverter and load the genset and see how it responds this at least will tell you where the problem lies This might sound unnecessary but it can be a big help isolate the problem Do not overlook anything

If the charger works under shore power and the genset is putting power The transfer sw is a problem

Re: Low Amps: Xantrex w/ Koehler Generator

I wonder what happened to travellingNanny. Did his/her problem get fixed?

Brad

No. I fear we spent a great deal of time and money and we continue to have difficulties with our power system. The Kohler generator works, the Xantrex inverter/charger works They just will not work together. We are currently on a dock with power and have given up the fight for the current time.

Re: Low Amps: Xantrex w/ Koehler Generator

I wonder if the ground and neutral lines have been switched either at the generator output or the Xantrex MS2000 input. Can you check that? (They sell something at Radio Shack to check polarity and ground. Or someone a the marina may have one already.)

I found my boat's shore power plug was wired in exactly that way. (Discovered while installing MS2000.) So I opened up the plug and fixed it.

(By the way, I'm having a problem with my MS2000 -- it won't chanrge the batteries when connected to shore power. Did some Google searching/researching and came upon your thread that way.)

Good luck with it.

Regards,
Brad

I think you may well be on the way to a solution. There has always been a problem with the ground wire. Your note has be back on task. I had planned to call yet another individual to check out the issue. I will put that on my calendar and check it out.

Re: Low Amps: Xantrex w/ Koehler Generator

It may be swapped wires, not just the ground wire. It would be worth tracing the wires from the generator to the inverter/charger to see if they get crossed somewhere along the length of the connection.

Just watch out for the Hot wire. You can do all that with everything off. Be careful.

Brad
