Boracay, Have you looked at the Victron range of charger/inverters, I have a friend who runs a 1.8 model and it charges the batteries and runs TV,washing machines etc. As for belt driven genny's the belt drives are a continual source of problems so why not fit a hydraulic pto pump to the main engine and it will drive anchor winches, bow thrusters as well as the main genny. The main boat diesel running on light load will be comparable cost wise with a genny running on a heavy load.

How about this? I've used them before on oilfield equipment, if they stand up to that abuse they'll work for your needs.

Doesn't Yanmar offer a drive engine/genny combo? I wonder how well they work. I see you already have yours but I was just interested in this alternative.

Theres a door in-front of that now, probably about 200 - 250mm of space
