Exactly
So change with caution but you always can reset to factory and start over if you get lost

Re: Mastervolt alpha pro 3 control

Does anyone know if there are any plans to get the MasterAdjust software working on an iPad rather than a PC ? PITA having to take a laptop away just for this task.

I agree completely, but I doubt Brunswick (Mastervolt owner) will see the ROI in funding a port.

There's been at least two individuals who worked at reverse engineering the protocol. The best documented is:

Re: Mastervolt alpha pro 3 control

Can anyone tell me what parameters are accessible WITHOUT a usb interface?

How do you switch between profiles for example?

on a Pro 2

and what is the difference between the Pro2 and the Pro3?

The idea is that a dealer programs the regulator on installation (using the USB interface). The dealer can also program the Mastervolt display with various "events" that allow users to alter some values without using a computer. These "events" are then triggered by simply pushing a button on the Mastervolt display. For example, I have programmed an "event" to force the regulator into float. A USB interface is needed to program these "events".

If installing the unit yourself you need to buy a USB interface to commission the system. It is not all that expensive. No adjustments or programming can be done without this interface.

From memory, I think, version 3 offered support for two temperature probes (instead of one).

Faceplant

So what will it do out of the box?

Will it at least cause the alt to put out 14.4v ?

What is the 12 / 24 pot for?

Where in the sam hell are the instructions for this thing?

what are you supposed to do when it arrives from an online order?

There are two cables on the internal regulator I am replacing
How do I figure out which to connect to the two alpha cables?
From the circuit diagrams for the mastervolt alts, one cable of the Alpha is Field current supply, the other is posative 12v

My prestolite wiring looks like this

mastervolt us tech support is hours on hold

The wiring diagrams are here:

What is the White wire for?
It connects to an unmarked terminal in their diagram
A description of what these wires are for would be VERY helpful

I have 4 wires to splice into

as seen in the service manual page 4 FIG 2

Trying to understand what to connect to them

Re: Mastervolt alpha pro 3 control

Added

I have determined that the internal regulator has four wires
Green - Field
Red - B+
Black - B-
Orange - D+

I assume the field windings are between Green and Red?

Re: Mastervolt alpha pro 3 control

I have finally obtained a USB interface to use the materadjust software for my Alpha Pro 2

There is no USER DEFINED option in the battery type dropdown
My *latest* software version is 2.36 and I am logged in as installer

Could someone pls send me an older version of this software to determine if this has option can be set with older software as indicated here

This is beyond frustrating and zero response from mastervolt. Their US support number results in s permanent on hold

Re: Mastervolt alpha pro 3 control

I hear you on the frustration with dealing with Mastervolt. Not sure how they're going to compete with Victron down the road. If it wasn't prohibitively expensive, I'd switch out to Victron.

The US number has only become worse over the last year from what I'm hearing. I'm also hearing they don't respond to email much either now. You can leave your number for a call back, and they do call back. It might take a day or so to do so though (or they use to do so).

You could reach out to the Mastervolt Facebook group. It's not very active but every now and then someone can answer a question.
