mastervolt and equalizing

I. have. a 40A Mastervolt battery Charger. in the manual it states to equalize battery you have to flip the DIP switch. I have done this with no results. Has anybody successfully used this charger to equalize batteries

Re: mastervolt and equalizing

Ha... nobody I have met has been able to get that to work. I have a 70 amp charger.

Caveat - I have only done this once but it seems to work.

I set the max amp output to 5% of the battery bank (done so they batteries do not overheat and kick in the temperature compensation algorithm in the charger, lowering the output voltage), set the bulk and absorption voltage to same voltage recommended for equalizing my batteries and set the minimum bulk and absorption time values to the highest settings (I think its like 2 hours and 8 hours, respectively). Then start the charge. Monitor your equalization as normal.

When done, set the values back to their old settings.

I have a 4 amp and it does not have all those adjustments. Just 4 dip switches. I will try and call mastervolt

You said previously that you had a 40 Amp... I can't find either a 40 amp or a 4 amp on their website.

If its a 40 amp you should have those options. Do you have a panel with four buttons on the front with an liquid crystal display?

No, that does not work. If there is another Mastervolt owner on here that has gotten that to work then please chime in. However, I have never found a Mastervolt owner who has.
