Re: My attempt to murder my Firefly Batteries

I like your point about the swap in feature, with no need for bms, rewiring, low and high cutoffs etc.

Solving the psoc problem and and the greater useable capacity, and longevity are also very good.

Thanks

Re: My attempt to murder my Firefly Batteries

For you electronic nerdy types maybe you can delve into my maybe or maybe not problem with my Merc alternator and Fireflies. I'm just going to link to another thread in the trawler forum rather than play it all out here:

Re: My attempt to murder my Firefly Batteries

IMO it's a non issue unless batteries are 100% SOC and you motor for long periods of time with minimal loads running.

But you should know the voltage of your batteries, so a good battery monitor is important. Verify with a quality DMM, preferably a calibrated one.

Re: My attempt to murder my Firefly Batteries

I would add an external regulator like the Balmar. If that is not an option, Sterling has Alternator to Battery chargers.
