Re: Need help with logistics

The fact that he had the same model battery bought at about the same time as the one that I had fail on me tells me that Trojan must know something about it. My research tells me that that all wet batteries have some cells that are stronger than others and that a battery bank is only as good as its weakest cell. My advice is don't buy Trojan L16AC. Most boats don't have room for them anyway, they are very tall. My original plan was to get t105s but when I got to the distributor they had just sold them all so I got the L16s. We brought them back to Rio Dulce on a bus from San Pedro Sula Honduras. Guatemala has a very steep tax on batteries, you will pay double compared to other places.

Re: Need help with logistics

I've come across hundreds of comments

"Never mind all this talk of coddling batts for longevity, me and my friends just buy new ones every year, run em down like crazy and put them in just before the warranty is up"

And don't even consider they're doing anything wrong, big companies, etc

So no, I don't expect mfg to deliver more than promised, too many variables involved to judge defects so long after new.

But I am wondering if Trojan's QA is slipping, to me those Duracell East Penn GCs look better and better, either that or all the way up to Rolls Surrette!

Re: Need help with logistics

I am more than happy for the other 5 to be tested. I can't have killed one if the rest of the bank is healthy and wired properly. So i feel ot was a defect. I will look into other manufacturers warranties out of curiosity for next time.

Problem solved, bringing battery in on an existing container, so no shipping cost. But I am paying a higher price than back in the US after other fees.
