Yes, you're right - two 6V - so remove 2

I have had this issue onshore with some high capacity battery chargers. My experiences resolved that a slightly elevated earth potential was the cause and in the cases I dealt with there was no fix. If you have not changed anything and your charger is operating as you expect and the fault has reset then I would carry on as normal.
