Re: Northern Lights Generator starts but won’t run

Well that was a tricky one. It has turned out to be the stupid 15A push button breaker. It must have been breaking the power circuit due to vibration. Slipped in a spare and we’re now dumping 60 amps into the batteries. Thanks for all the assistance!

FatDaddyG , great resultant.

Kudos to IRENE for their post #10 whom nailed it.

Very interesting fault, the breaker faulting action must be just enough to make the run relay contacts chatter and drop the generator, but insufficient to drop the run relay when the bypass switch is on.

Certainly a heads up for those with NL generators with un commanded shutdowns whom read this thread in the future, start with checking the 15 amp breaker.

Re: Northern Lights Generator starts but won’t run

Here is a source of supply for the circuit breaker in the US:

Information regarding free online training for Northern Lights owners:

I just used this outfit for competitively priced spare parts also in the US, I have no relationship/affiliation with them. Both of my orders came direct from Northern Lights (drop ship):

Yes, I missed #10 initially. Sorry IRENE. When the Bypass switch is On the Run Relay is fed by the diode. Great little riddle… now to find a proper replacement.
