Promariner Protech 1215 Charger Has a Rattling Noise

I finally hooked up my Promariner charger, it started charging the gel battery in absorption mode. However, after about a half of hour the charger started making rattling noise for 10-15 sec every 1-3 minutes. During this noise, charger switches from absorption to fast charger mode and back.

Anyone ever had this happen?

Thank you

No, but I would guess that you are hearing a manifestation of transformer core hysteresis. A working transformer expands and contracts and this can lead to a noticeable hum. It may be that something is loose (covers?) and that is causing the rattle or just how you have it mounted may be a resonance sweet spot.

Thank you, Cuthbert!

I haven't had a change to post a video illustration of this noise until now.

Here it is:

Any feedback would appreciated!

That sounds like a relay that is cycling very, very fast. I would suggest sending your file to Technical Support at Professional Mariner.

You exactly right! I called Promariner and described the problem. They instantly knew whats up and told me "This is a relay, send it in".
I send the unit in past Thursday. Called to check on the status today(Tue). Without even asking my name or my repair order number, they addressed me by my first name and said that unit has been repaired and sent out today! The shipping of the unit to me was at no charge!
Since they knew who they speak to right away, tells me one thing. They don't have a warehouse full of broken stuff and the backlog of several weeks. This also leads me to believe that they don't get too many of these units back and I was prob one of the few customers at the time.
Anyhow, I just wanted to share my satisfaction with the Promariner company.
