Removable Solar Panel Mounts

I am primarily a coastal cruiser but there’s times that I want some solar on overnight+ trips. I don’t have a Bimini otherwise I’d put some there but am looking for a removable way to have some solar. Are there any stanchion mounts out there that I could install a 100w panel to use underway on a longer cruise or other ideas?

Yes, SeaDog has removable stanchion mounts.

There are commercial, pre-made kits, but they cost more than the panel.

I've used them for my install of the 100w panel and they worked out great. The issue is not the mounts, but wiring. You need to use quick-connectors and they need to be close to the cable entry into the boat.

There is a big thread about installs of solar that you may find useful.

Our two panels are 135 watts each. They fold down or can be slanted up to catch the sun. They are easily removable; we do so each year when we go into racing season. We use plastic mounts and Magma mounts to hold them in place.

We extended the railings but we've seen others just hung on the lifelines.

The wires are an issue, we just use butt connections and cut them off each year.

We circumnavigated with this arrangement. In storms they fold down flat just clearing the deck.
