Replace Fridge : 12 V or 220V

Dear forum members and a happy 2017, fair winds for all.
On my exstensive to do list for this year, to improve the fridge situation on board jumped to the first position, having sweltering temps in our summer (Brazil). I have a standard 12 V (frigobar type) fridge on board, however it is not keeping up and i am loosing a lot of cold air. I now have the possibility to change the fridge and i am thinking to get a 220 V one (i have 5 solar panels and an inverter of 1200 W).. I am thinking that with little electrical applaince constraints, i am ok in getting an 220 v model (much cheaper than nautical/12V types). Anyone using a 220 V fridge? What are the pro´s what are the con´s.
